CMS rates the quality of Medicare Part C and Part D plans every year. They provide overall scores for plans, health plan and drug plan scores by category, and more.

The ratings are meant to give shoppers an idea of the plan’s quality.

This not only helps the shopper, but it also incentivizes carriers to ensure they provide not only cost-effective plans, but generally high-quality plans as well.

With Medicare Part D you’ll only see a rating for Drug plan quality, with standalone Part C plans you’ll see Health plan quality only, but with Part C plans that include drug coverage, you’ll see ratings for both.

When you see a rating on our website, it is the official CMS rating for that plan’s corresponding year.

NOTE: We currently only feature overall ratings for plans, although we will be including additional ratings moving forward.
