Diagnostic non-laboratory tests and procedures include blood pressure readings, CT scans, MRIs, EKGs, X-rays, and PET scans. Diagnostic tests and procedures like these are covered by Medicare Part B when used by your doctor when they are treating you.[1]

You pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for tests done in your doctor’s office or in a testing facility, and the Part B deductible applies. You pay the copayment for tests done in a hospital setting.

Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans may provide additional cost-sharing coverage so make sure to check your plan for your specific costs.
